SONOMA, CA, January 15, 2023 /24-7press release/ — The nonprofit movement Ally Ring launches on Martin Luther King’s birthday with its unique approach to solving critical social justice issues. Ally Ring founder Robert MacPhee believes the key to real progress is engaging people who, more than ever, are aware of these issues and don’t know what to say or do to be part of the solution.
It all started with an aha moment that happened for MacPhee as social justice issues have been pushed into the media for the past four years, beginning with the horrific tragedy of George Floyd. His conversations with his daughter, a staunch advocate of social justice, helped him see that he had something important to offer.
He made a commitment to his daughter to start a nonprofit organization that would help people come together and be part of the solution. Much needs to be done to create more unity and equality in education, housing, income and health care.
It’s not just another non-profit organization. It’s about getting more solution-oriented, well-meaning people to take action and actively participate in these kinds of conversations, giving them the information, resources, and encouragement they need to know what they’re saying or doing need to be really helpful.
The goals are to raise money for other organizations doing strong social justice work, create a community of like-minded people who come together to solve social justice problems, and keep these people engaged.
It starts with a donation. Ally Ring raises funds by soliciting donations that are shared with carefully vetted organizations doing strong social justice work.
Then each donor will receive a beautiful and distinctive silicone ring as a reminder of their commitment to be a more effective ally for people who have been marginalized because of race, gender, sexual identity, disability or any other reason.
After someone makes a donation, they’re immediately part of the Ally Ring community and receive ongoing support. The work of the Ally Ring team provides the information, resources, accountability and encouragement community members need and inspires them to consistently take action that makes a difference.
Serious social justice problems cannot be solved by a single person. Ally Ring believes the key to solving these problems is to engage truly caring people in critical conversations and inspire them to do their part.
“Together we can create a world where everyone is treated equally and everyone has access to equal opportunities,” says MacPhee. “We just need to involve more of the right people and give them the support and encouragement they need.”
The Ally Ring is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to creating a world where all people are treated equally and have equal opportunity. For more information visit www.allyring.com
