It features original Karate Kid stars Ralph Macchio and William Zabka along with an ensemble cast of Courtney Henggeler, Xolo Mariduena, Tanner Buchanan, Mary Mouser, Jacob Bertrand, Gianni DeCenzo, Peyton List, Martin Kove and Thomas Ian Griffith.
In a statement released on the official Twitter Series creators Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg described the decision to end the series as “bittersweet”.
“Re-introducing the world to the ‘Karate Kid’ universe has been our humble honor. The production of ‘Cobra Kai’ has allowed us to join the same sacred dojo once inhabited by the amazing Robert Mark Kamen, John Avildsen, Jerry Weintraub and all the amazing original cast.
“It also allowed us to play Sensei, expand on the original storylines, and give birth to a new generation of misfits. We never took this opportunity for granted,” they said.

Cobra Kai was written and executive produced by Heald, Hurwitz and Schlossberg through their production company, Counterbalance Entertainment.
