More details have surfaced about what to expect from the iPhone 15 later this year: thinner bezels on the two Pro models and rounded edges on all four handsets for an Apple Watch-like aesthetic.
This comes from seasoned Apple tipsters ShrimpApplePro (opens in new tab) (about MacRumors (opens in new tab)), who says the display sizes of the four phones remain the same as last year. In addition, the Dynamic Island is also finding its way into every model.
The tipster stresses that the screens will remain flat – only the bezels will curve into the rest of the phone’s body. However, it seems that the design of the selfie camera phone unit will not change much.
Well, I have the result for iPhone 15 series display design. – All iPhone 15 series have the same display sizes as iPhone 14 series – Pro 15 will have thinner bezels with curved edges, the display is still flat, only the bezels are curvedJanuary 21, 2023
The return of the curves
Take a look at those iPhone 14 and you’ll see that the bezels are already impressively thin. So it’ll be interesting to see exactly how much they’re discounted on the two more expensive handsets in the range.
We’re also very interested in seeing those curved bezels. It’s possible that Apple will return to a more curved design overall, like we saw with the iphone 11. It wouldn’t be the first time an iPhone screen has been tapered at the edges.
The source here calls the most expensive model the “iPhone 15 Pro Max (aka Ultra)” and admits that we’re still not sure what Apple will call this phone: we’ve heard several Rumors about the iPhone 15 Ultra in recent weeks.
Analysis: The most beautiful iPhone yet?
The same leaker who provided this new information also says that the iPhone 15 Pro Max (or iPhone 15 Ultra) appears to be “very nice” – and from the description we can see just how visually appealing these phones would be.
Since the bezels are thinner on the Pro models, almost the entire screen is taken up by actual pixels. Add the curved effect right at the edges and we get the impression that the iPhone 15 range could indeed be very pleasing to the eye.
While those thinner bezels aren’t coming for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, those phones are rumored to curve slightly around the edges as well. The edgy look is out and the rounder look is back it seems.
Now, given the experience and expertise of Apple’s design team, we’re really excited to see what the iPhone 15 series has to offer in terms of its actual looks – and it’s been a few years since we’ve been able to Say that.
