Mr. Williams, who served in an administrative role as Assistant Principal for Cumberland County Schools, District 7 Elementary, in Wade, North Carolina, accepted his position in 2021 after more than a decade in the district. Mr. Williams is responsible for the overall direction of the curriculum and policies for the elementary school environment, also oversees the transportation coordination aspects for the school, and manages budget policies, logistics and various other routine functions.
After joining Cumberland County Schools in 2010 as a teaching assistant in Fayetteville, North Carolina, Mr. Williams went on to become a career technical education teacher at 71st High School from 2015-2021. He was also heavily involved in the men’s and women’s basketball programs.
Prior to his civic career, Mr. Williams spent 26 years in the military, first as a human relations generalist with the 18th Airborne Corps and then as director of human relations and senior human resource manager.
Socially, Mr. Williams is active as a member and past president of Kiwanis International and as a member of Disabled American Veterans. He has also coached numerous basketball and softball teams since 1986, including a local boys’ community basketball team for more than 10 years.
Mr. Williams is highly qualified, having received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Management from Campbell University since 1999, a Master of Business Administration in Public Administration from Trident University International since 2004, and a second Master of Education in Executive Leadership from North Carolina State University in 2016. Additionally, Mr. Williams received certification as an Administrator and Athletic Coach.
In recognition of his outstanding service to his country, Mr. Williams received a Legion of Merit and two Bronze Stars for combat experience. He was also honored to receive a Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Award from the US Department of Defense.
Mr. Williams credits his success to his personable and approachable personality. He also notes his ability to quickly grasp concepts and complete tasks. Looking ahead, Mr. Williams intends to pursue a PhD in a related field to further advance his career.
