Now, amid internet chatter questioning whether the game even exists, the developer has come out and claimed that it planned to delay the game even before the trademark dispute surfaced. In a statement to IGN, Ftastic has also ended speculation that the game is a “scam”.
“We have planned to delay the game’s release before then and plan to announce it along with it [publisher] Mytona in a 10-minute gameplay video,” said the developer IGN. “And then you all know what happened. To be on the safe side, we have decided together with the publisher for November 10th so that there are no further transmissions. That’s a safe date given the trademark dispute.” The game, now delayed twice, will use the extra time to ensure a polished and “content-rich” experience leading up to launch day. As for the gameplay video, Ftastic intends to consult its lawyers first before releasing it.
Despite the allegations leveled against them, the developers of The Day Before seem optimistic about the end result – even denying claims that they are running any kind of scam. “We didn’t take a penny from people: no crowdfunding, no pre-orders, no donations. The game is fully funded by Mytona, one of the largest mobile publishers in the world, who reviewed the game’s build at each milestone as per our contract,” their statement said.
