Shazam! Fury of the Gods just got a new trailer. After a brief showing at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Warner Bros. has released new footage that reveals key plot beats – many of them – that in some ways could mark the end or beginning of the next chapter in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU ). The trailer, available in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, feels cluttered. Originally slated for an April 2022 release, the sequel suffered multiple delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic and was eventually set for March 17, 2023. David F. Sandberg is of course directing again.
The trailer for Shazam! wrath of the gods begins with voiceover as Kalypso (Lucy Liu), the second daughter of Atlas, sows a seed in the middle of a ballpark. The seed spawns a gigantic tree, its roots and branches spreading into the city, destroying everything in its path. “We are at war. We will destroy everything,” malicious eldest daughter Hespera (Helen Mirren) warns Shazam! (Zachary Levi), at a local restaurant. “The champions of this realm can do nothing to stop us.” The Shazam! 2 The trailer then confirms that it’s been “a few years” since young Billy Batson (Ash Angel) received superpowers in the Original Movie 2019which was then distributed among his foster siblings, who have established themselves as the city’s rightful protectors.

The casting sees only one change — Grace Fulton returns as Mary Bromfield/Mary Marvel, although this time she’ll play both the academically-minded sister and the adult superhero form. Previously, the latter, older version was portrayed by Michelle Brothe. I’m not sure how the film will handle the secret identity side. Hopefully without glasses.
the Shazam! wrath of the gods The trailer then dives into exhibition territory and establishes why the Daughters of Atlas decided to hunt our heroes. “Children have stolen the power of the gods,” Hespera explains while caring for disabled foster brother Frederick Freeman (Jack Dylan Grazer) as a hostage. “You ripped it from the core of our father.” The trailer then cuts into a montage of action sequences Shazam! falls headfirst into the dragon Kalypso is riding – which he happens to call “Khaleesi”. A game of Thrones Notice? Rachel Zeglers Anthea, the third daughter of Atlas, appears in the Shazam much later! 2 trailer and can be seen casting a spell.
“I don’t know how we fight such forces,” says Bromfield, as the entire city is cloaked in a blue, dome-like shield. At this point, the Shazam! The Fury of the Gods trailer presents the big bet where Batson wants his powers drained in hopes of saving the town and his beloved foster brother. “I’ve spent millennia searching for a worthy champion,” The Wizard (Djimon Hounsou) says. “You know exactly what to do.” The trailer ends with some footage from the final confrontation where Shazam! Battle against the aforementioned dragon while a group of unicorns and other mythical creatures take over the city. Like I said, it’s crowded and pretty much gives away the entire movie.
Considered a quality product by Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav as he was planning to plan a new future for them DCEU, it is clear that Shazam! Fury of the Gods will no longer be included Black Adam in the crease. New DC Studios co-leader James Gunn and Peter Saffron decided versus a Black Adam sequel that essentially breaks the universe’s interconnectivity with that star Dwayne Johnson had planned.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods will be released in cinemas worldwide 17. March.
