Air Fryer bread pudding dessert ingredients
I have not listed the set amounts for all ingredients below as this will depend on the number of dishes you have, the size of your air fryer and any additional ingredients you add. The recipe and quantities below should be used as a guide.
- 2 slices of bread
- 2 eggs
- 200ml milk
- sugar
Due to the nature of this dessert, you can substitute the eggs with a vegan alternative, such as B. Linseed mixed with water. You can even use applesauce or a thin mashed banana to bind the ingredients together (and add extra flavor).
I made this pudding with oat milk and coconut milk—and both milks work just as well, if not better, than the original milk.
I’ve also mixed vanilla into the milk and egg mixture, sprinkled cinnamon on the pudding, and even melted chocolate on top.
Recipe method for air fryer bread pudding dessert
I used those Tower T17099 Vortx Eco Dual Basket Air Fryer (opens in new tab), set at 175°C (350°F) for 15 minutes. This resulted in a crispy golden top while ensuring the eggs were cooked through.
If you’re adding chocolate, I’d recommend either melting it separately and pouring it over the dish when serving, or adding the chocolate after the first five minutes to avoid snagging.
Step 1: Mix the eggs and milk in a bowl or bowl (make sure the bowl/bowl fits in the fryer). You can also use molds for mini puddings.
Note: It’s possible to make this pudding yourself in the air fryer basket, but it’s messy and cooking time varies.
Step 2: Sprinkle a pinch of sugar into the milk and egg mixture.
Step 3: Tear off pieces of bread and soak in the milk-egg-sugar mixture. Make sure the bread is fully submerged.
Step 4: Sprinkle another pinch of sugar over the dish (you can add more if you have a sweet tooth). I also like to add a pinch of cinnamon at this point.
Step 5: Place the dish in the air fryer and cook at 175°C (350°F) for 15 minutes.
Step 6: Serve with ice cream, melted chocolate, powdered sugar – or simply stick in.
Air Fryer Bread Pudding Recipe Verdict
For such a simple mix of ingredients, this dessert is quick to make and delicious. It’s easy to switch out the flavors to suit your own tastes, and it’s the ideal pudding for those times when you don’t have anything else sweet in the house but crave something delicious.
It’s also a great way to use up bread that’s past its prime.
In terms of presentation, this pudding will not win any awards. Also, you need to make sure you get the right milk to egg ratio to avoid making sweet scrambled eggs.
However, if you want a tasty, quick, affordable, and easy after-dinner treat — or even mid-afternoon — you can’t go wrong with this recipe.
