OnePlus V Fold, OnePlus V Flip may be in development, new leak hints

OnePlus is ready to unveil OnePlus 11R, OnePlus 11 5G and OnePlus Buds Pro 2 TWS headphones at the Cloud 11 launch event on February 7th. Alongside these new products, the Chinese smartphone brand is reportedly preparing to unveil its first foldable smartphones soon. The foldable smartphone range is said to include both traditional folding and clamshell devices. OnePlus has reportedly filed trademarks for the OnePlus V Fold and OnePlus V Flip smartphones. There are currently no official details on the OnePlus foldable models and it is unclear whether the devices will even debut this year.

Tipster Mukul Sharma tweeted a screenshot of the registered trademarks of OnePlus for its foldable devices. The listing suggests OnePlus V Fold and OnePlus V Flip monikers for the upcoming models. He claims that internal testing of (at least) one of these devices has started in multiple regions, including Europe. The brand is said to launch traditional (horizontal) folding smartphones and clamshell folding smartphones. OnePlus hasn’t released a foldable phone yet.

OnePlus has yet to announce any specs of its foldable handset. In August last year, OnePlus co-founder Pete Lau divided Images of a hinge on Twitter hinting at the development of a foldable smartphone without confirming the name and other details.

OnePlus’ first foldable smartphone could share some similarities with Oppo’s find N which was launched in December 2021. It is rumored to come with Android 13. However, the company may consider announcing its foldable phone plans later this year cloud 11 Kick-off event on February 7th. The event will see the launch of the OnePlus 11R, OnePlus 11 5G and OnePlus Buds Pro 2 TWS Headphones.

Samsung currently has an early lead in the foldable smartphone space. Sister company of OnePlus oppo recently introduced Find N2 and Find N2 Flip in December last year. The upcoming OnePlus models could compete with such Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy Z Fold 4, Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 and Motorola Razr 2022.
