Lesley Mallow Wendell received her first Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations with honors from the University of Pennsylvania in 1977 and began her career as an Assistant Account Executive at Benton & Bowles. After a year in that role, she transferred to the University of Vermont, where she spent the next four years serving as the director of the student jobs program and the cooperative education program. In 1982 she became Director of Career Services at Widener University, a role she held until 1993. During this time, Ms. Wendell continued her studies at Widener University, earning a Masters of Science in Business with a concentration in Human Resources and Career Development, summa cum laude, in 1987.
Ms. Wendell joined OPTIONS, Inc., a career development and organizational consulting firm, in 1993 as Director of Client Services. In 1996, she was promoted to the Chief Executive role, a role she held until its inception in 2001 Rosewood Advisory Group, where she continues to serve as owner and president. In these roles, she provides leadership and team coaching, as well as consulting services for organizational and leadership development, including board leadership and succession planning. Ms. Wendell has also been the owner of TransitionWorks since 2008.
Ms. Wendell continued to learn throughout her career and has received various certifications from the Myers-Briggs Company, including the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator; the California Psychological Inventory; the Thomas Kilmann Conflict Modes Instrument and Basic Interpersonal Relationship Orientation; Emotional and social competence inventory. Most recently, she completed training in positive intelligence for coaches and a certification in breakthrough coaching from WBEC. Ms. Wendell, who has achieved much throughout her career, credits much of her success to her early work as an account manager and argues that this experience became the foundation upon which her expertise in account management grew.
Additionally, Ms. Wendell is incredibly grateful to the women who have inspired her throughout her career, and she hopes to be that inspiration to others. She finds the most satisfying aspect of her career to be watching the people she has coached over the years rise through the ranks and thrive in their respective careers. Looking to the future, she hopes to devote more time to her writing. In addition to writing articles for various publications, she wrote the chapter “Transform Your Leadership to Grow Your Business” in Jean Oursler’s 2015 book, Results! Powerful solutions to boost businessand co-author When Leaders Leave: A New Perspective on Leadership Change in 2013. She also co-authored “Reimagining Career Planning for Today’s Workplace,” a white paper published by the Philadelphia Society for People and Strategy in 2023.
To stay abreast of new developments in her field, Ms. Wendell attends the World Business & Executive Coach Summit, an annual event that facilitates international networking and discussion. She has also been active in her community and has been closely associated with Women’s Way, a leading non-profit group dedicated to empowering women. During her tenure as vice chair of the organization’s board, she led a strategic planning process that transformed the organization’s funding model and enhanced the group’s fundraising capabilities. Her other community endeavors include volunteering at Career Wardrobe and serving on the advisory board of Power for Women. Both organizations have presented Ms. Wendell with awards for her service.
When not working, Ms. Wendell donates her time to the Ohev Shalom Congregation, where she has been a member since 1993 and has served on the board and as Chair of the Personnel Committee, Outreach Grants Committee, and Netzach Committee since 2013. She is also proud Mother of two and doting grandmother of two grandchildren. In her free time, Ms. Wendell enjoys travelling, spending time with friends and family, visiting the local farmers market and cooking.
