Sony is retiring its PlayStation Plus Collection soon. For the uninitiated, the catalog features a range of PS4 games that any PS5 owner can easily download and play for free, provided they subscribe to the PS Plus service. Players have until May 9th to redeem the 19-game collection on their accounts, after which the benefit will expire. A PS Plus membership will be required to access these games long after closure – players cannot “keep” these games. The collection originally featured 20 games, but went a notch lower when the popular JRPG Persona 5 was removed last year.

The PlayStation Plus Collection was introduced as part of the PS5 start in end of 2020, at a time when there was a lack of exclusive launch titles – an incentive to buy the current-gen console. While Sony Never given a reason for this new update, it was offered recently limited-time discounts on your PSPlus Extra and Deluxe/Premium subscriptions to encourage Basic plan subscribers to upgrade.

Also PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan confirmed last month that the PS5 was said to be experiencing supply shortages no longer be a problem. Combined with the fact that the console now has an extensive library of its own, it could mean that the publisher feels it is unnecessary to offer these freebies.

As mentioned, the PS Plus collection includes 19 games, divided into 10 first-party and nine third-party releases.
