Glenn Steiger Celebrated for Dedication to the Utilities Industry

An internationally renowned business executive in the energy and water industries, Mr. Steiger excels as the Executive Consultant for the Navajo Tribal Utility Authority, overseeing power supply and transmission negotiations. Backed by five decades of industry experience, he made a name for himself as a community leader and innovative business developer, having worked on three large utility-scale solar plants for the NTUA. Previously, he worked for the Utility Authority as a deputy general manager. Over the years, Mr. Steiger also served in CEO and consulting positions with Alameda Municipal Power, Glendale Water and Power, and Mass Municipal Wholesale Electric Co.

During the early stages of his career, Mr. Steiger gained valuable expertise in the field as the general manager of IID Energy for the Imperial Irrigation District, vice president of corporate and competitive affairs for GPU Energy and Jersey Central Power and Light, and as the director of engineering and operations for Sussex REC. Throughout his career thus far, he has managed annual operating budgets upward of $1 billion and delivered groundbreaking financial and operational solutions.

An expert in his field, Mr. Steiger earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology in 1970 and a Master of Science in Engineering Management from his alma mater in 1987. Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, he has completed post graduate work at Duke University while aligned himself with the National Academy of Construction, the National Society of Professional Engineers, the Western Electric Coordinating Council, the Northern California Power Agency, and the South California Public Power Authority.

Outside of his work and as a graduate of Leadership New Jersey, Mr. Steiger has contributed to his community through the Salvation Anny, the Morris County YMCA, Dover General Hospital, and the Alzheimer’s Association. In recognition of his accomplishments, he was honored for deploying a smart grid by Grid Week in 2010 and was noted as a “mover and shaker” in the utility industry in 2011. While his career has been filled with highlights, Mr. Steiger is most proud of taking on complex projects in the utilities industry, including the automation of Glendale, California’s utility system. The cornerstone of his success lies in his willingness to take on a challenge and his overall vision and drive to get things done.
