As the world moves to electrify everything from cars to heaters to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, heat pumps have become increasingly popular.
I covered alternative energy for The New York Times for five years and before that for nearly a decade covering utilities and energy in general. The energy transition provides an opportunity to explore new technologies such as heat pumps and their impact on electricity needs, monthly energy bills and home comfort.
I’d love to hear from people who have purchased heat pumps, especially readers who live in very cold climates. I’m also interested in the opinions of people who haven’t bought one because they think heat pumps are too expensive or don’t cover their heating needs.
