The Port of Los Angeles, the Port of Long Beach and the Maritime Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) announced December 6 a partnership strategy that aims to create a green and digital shipping passage across the Pacific Ocean. The new strategy outlines steps that the three ports will take to speed up the decarbonization of the shipping industry.

The partners will work together to help ships achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions while providing greater access to environmentally friendly technologies. They will also look to increase the use of zero and near-zero-emission fuels and energy sources amongst transpacific shippers.

“This Partnership Strategy document is the foundation upon which we’ll build the future of maritime shipping,” said the Port of Los Angeles executive director Gene Seroka. “Our success requires the resolve and dedication of the three partnering ports as well as our industry partners. Together, we will model the collaboration necessary to achieve our climate and efficiency goals.”
