ORLANDO, Fla. – The concept of look for a coach for a beneficial reorientation in life is not a new topic here at the “Black Men Sundays”. In fact, we’re speaking to another such professional this week.
This time on the show, host Corie Murray interviews Jewel Edward Love, Jr., the founder of Black executive men (BEM), an Oakland, California-based coaching firm dedicated to “transforming the lives of black men across America so they can make the greatest impact,” according to BEM’s mission statement.

Under Love’s leadership, BEM has advanced the careers of over 500 black men over the past seven years, helping them achieve middle and senior management positions at leading companies such as Google, Microsoft, Nvidia, PayPal, Capital One, Medtronic, Upwork, Trimble and PG&E.
“We’re helping them through a crucial transformational process called the Zone of Genius. Well, we didn’t invent it, but we make sure we talk about it with all of our customers,” Love said. “Well, ‘Zone of Genius’ is essentially figuring out how to be the best in the world, and I mean that literally, not figuratively, I mean that in exactly what you’re doing and when you’re doing that alongside your professional mission find out your why, why you do what you do, you can fetch much higher prices in the market as far as your salary is concerned.
Love strives to help his clients achieve what he calls the 3S, the trinity of high salary, high tenure and high levels of job satisfaction. Love’s 3M system, which stands for mindset, motivation and massive action, also goes hand in hand.
“There’s a whole other level of why you need to be a leader in one of these organizations. Just the benefits, the perks, you can actually get executive health insurance for the rest of your life if you’re in some of those roles. You quit a job, you and your family are still dealing with it. The benefits are outrageous as you rise to the executive level,” Love said. “It’s for the satisfaction you can have in a role, making the impact you want to have, fulfilling your mission, your professional mission, why you’re here on earth, the level of satisfaction that that can bring and the confidence that it can have can show not only in your job but also in your family and in your circle of friends, your church, your spiritual community, it’s just like that – it can be a new life for you .”
According to Love, he helps his clients reach their potential by guiding them to move past regret, procrastination and the possibility of failure.
“When we work with our clients, whether it’s helping them land a new job or a raise at their current company, while showing them tactics, strategy, motivation and accountability on how to do it, it helps them do more To earn money . We’re talking $10,000, $30,000, we’ve got a guy in our program now that’s going from $300,000 to $700,000,” Love said. “I know this might sound ridiculous, but it’s not because we have guys making millions and it’s all about how they package themselves and how they sell their services.”
