When it comes to the dirtiest cities in the US in 2023, you may (or may not) be surprised to hear that Florida tops the list LawnStarter.
The site’s list takes into account factors such as pollution, living conditions, and infrastructure to rank US cities from most to least dirty. The higher a city’s score, the dirtier that city is, the list states.

“Living in the city has its perks, but more residents usually means more pollution, more rats, and more trash,” the website reads.
Of the 152 cities evaluated, Houston, Texas led the way with a score of 56.02, followed by Newark, New Jersey and San Bernadino, California.
Florida had the third largest number of cities with a total of nine cities, although Texas was second best with 12 and California was first with 31 cities included in the ranking.
The following are the dirtiest Florida cities to make LawnStarter’s list.

According to LawnStarter, pollution problems in many of these areas can cause health problems like lung cancer and an increased risk of heart disease.
The website also says dirt and grime can be a major bane for taxpayers, as millions in municipal funds can be used to clean up the streets.
“Dirty cities aren’t just a thorn in our side – they’re also bad for our bodies and our wallets,” the website says.
