Nintendo held its Direct event early Thursday, showcasing a variety of games set to launch in the first half of 2023. The nearly 45-minute presentation was streamed live on the company’s social channels and featured most of the major IPs, including new trailers for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Pikmin 4 and Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe. Among the new announcements, Nintendo is finally revamping the original Metroid Prime and bringing a brand new course to its acclaimed racing title, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Beyond. In addition, the company has made retro Game Boy and Game Boy Advance games available through the Nintendo Online subscription service.
Without further ado, here is a list of the biggest video game announcements of 2023 Nintendo Direct Case:

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom: New trailer and price
Release date: 12th of May
One of the most anticipated games of this year, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom throws series protagonist Link back into the world of Hyrule, although this time it feels scarier. As a contagious plague sweeps the lands, we learn new enemy types ranging from wyvern-like creatures, a one-eyed ogre resembling a boar, and what appears to be a boss fight against a rune block giant. In terms of plot, there isn’t much to discover here, but we can see the new mechanisms for crossing the sky, since this time we can explore the floating islands. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom would also be the first Nintendo Switch exclusive to cost $70 (about Rs. 5,785).
Metroid Prime Remastered
While Nintendo The existence of a Metroid 4 is still being kept secret, as the company has now announced Metroid Prime Remastered. And guess what? The digital edition is now available on Nintendo eShop! Originally launched on Nintendo’s Ancient game dice System adds dual stick controls to this new revamped version that helps in easy navigation with the ability to change the POV. Additionally, there is an in-game control setting that “recreates the feel of the original game”. Physical editions of Metroid Prime Remastered will be released on February 22nd.
Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe demo and epilogue

Before launching later this month, Nintendo announced a new epilogue for Kirby’s Return to Dreamland Deluxe. Accessible after completing the main story, you play as the interdimensional traveler Magalore, who has lost his magical powers. The Epilogue features an all-new map where players earn magic points by completing over 20 levels – eventually restoring Magalore’s abilities to their original states. In addition, the company has also made a free demo available on the Nintendo eShop.
Advanced Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp release date
Release date: April 21st
With a redesigned style for Nintendo Switch, Advance Wars returns with its main cast of Andy, Max, Sammy and more as you strategically defend the lands in a military-style turn-based combat system. Think of it like Totally Accurate Battle Simulator, but the characters can help with machine repairs and upgrade skills. Players can also design their own maps and share them with friends, in addition to a versus mode for head-to-head competitions – both online and locally. Advance Wars 1+2: Reboot Camp was originally slated for a 2021 release.
Pikmin 4 release date
Release date: July 21st
In addition to the July 21 release date, the long-awaited Pikmin 4 received a gameplay close-up at the Nintendo Direct presentation. The trailer offered a look at the new, unnamed, diminutive player character who would boss the smaller, floral Pikmin species around for help solving puzzles and defeating backyard bosses. We also meet a friendly dog named Otachi who is adept at breaking through barriers and pulling giant carcasses.
Splatoon 3 expansion
Release date: Spring 2023
It’s time to bring some color to the gray metropolis of Splatsville with the new Expansion Pass, which adds two waves of turn 3 DLC content. The first launches during US Spring and adds the Inkopolis map, a location from the original Splatoon that brings with it Inkopolis Square, shops, and the occasional Squid Sisters concert. The trailer then shifts to a darker theme, highlighted by a desolate, snowy setting, and introduces a second single-player quest called Side Order that will launch in the future.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Wave 4
Release date: spring
Mario Fans might be disappointed to learn that there’s no standalone release for Nintendo’s flagship game, but there’s a new course heading in that direction Mario Kart 8 deluxe soon. Those who own the Booster Course package gain access to Yoshi’s Island, which takes you through vivid underwater regions and a ramp into the sky. Birdo, the funnel-mouth dinosaur, first introduced in 2003’s Mario Kart: Double Dash!! appeared, Wave 4 will also be added as a playable character.
Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon Gameplay
Release Date: March 17th
Under the name Cereza, Nintendo has released a new gameplay trailer about the beginnings of the Umbra witch Bayonetta Bayonetta Origins Cereza and the Lost Demon. The spin-off title follows the young would-be witch on a quest to rescue her imprisoned mother as she ventures deep into the forbidden forest of Avalon, ruled by fairies. Fortunately, we are not alone on this journey as we are soon joined by the demonic Chesire, a powerful cat that acts as our muscle. The game lets you take control of both characters, with Cereza merely playing a supporting role, using spells to bind enemies in place. By switching controls to Chesire, we can inflict massive damage to defeat these threats.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 expansion
Release Date: February 15th
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is getting its third batch of expansion content on February 15th, adding roguelike battles and a new character, Masha, a lapidary. She essentially serves as an expert crafter, relying on special ores to construct accessories that can bestow various stats – such as: B. the increase in mobility. The villainous addition lets you choose a character and battle waves of enemies, with each victory granting more heroes and special abilities. Developer Monolith Soft also announced the content of Volume 4, to be released later this year, adding a new story-driven experience.
Disney Island of Illusion
Release date: July 28th
Featuring iconic Disney characters – Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy – Disney Island of Illusion comes to Nintendo switch, this July. The cartoon-style platformer features our heroes as they embark on an adventure to find three magic books while jumping, swimming and swinging around the mysterious island of Monoth. The game can also be played in four-player local co-op, with each player controlling one character. Share hugs for extra life points, leapfrog for longer jumps, and throw down a rope for your allies to climb up.
Octopath Traveler II demo
Release date: February 24th
Octopath Traveler 2 I’ve just received a playable demo on Nintendo eShop where saves are carried over to the main game after launch. With a unique blend of retro pixel and 3D CGI art styles, the game immerses you in Solistia, a bustling land divided by the sea. Play as one of eight eccentric characters, each with their own traits, and explore the lands however you see fit – interacting with the townspeople and developing professional and talented skills over time.
Game Boy on Nintendo Switch Online
Retro Game Boy titles are now available on the Nintendo Switch Online subscription service. Key library highlights include Tetris, Super Mario Land 2: Six Golden Coins, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening DX, Metroid 2: The Return of Samus and more. The base tier of $19.99/year (approx. Rs. 1,651) grants access to Game Boy and Game Boy Color titles.
Meanwhile the Game Boy Advance (GBA) titles are only available to those who own the premium expansion pack, which costs $49.99 (approx. Rs. 4,129). This tier adds six more titles to the mix including Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3, Mario Kart Super Circuit, Mario & Luigi: Superstar SagaThe Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap, WarioWare Inc.: Mega Microgames! and Kuru Kuru Kururin.
