Leveraging more than two decades of excellence in the train transportation industry, Mr. Walker has earned distinction as the vice president of engineering for CSX Transportation. Since 1999, he has focused his efforts on installing and maintaining track structures to ensure the trains can operate smoothly. He maintains and repairs all railroad bridges and is responsible for installing and maintaining all equipment, switches, radios, dispatch systems and other important communications devices along the tracks. Additionally, he is a valued member of the board of directors for the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association and Meteorcomm, and an executive sponsor of the African American Inclusion Group. He is also a member of the National Railroad Construction and Maintenance Association, Inc., the Railway Systems Suppliers, Inc. and the Positive Train Control executive committee.

Before starting his private career, Mr. Walker served honorably as a lieutenant for the United States Navy for 22 years until retiring. Following his military service, he was the director of communications for CSX Transportation in 1999 and was promoted to the assistant chief engineer of communications in 2006. In 2015, he rose to the role of assistant chief engineer for signal construction and was the chief engineer of communications and signals in 2017. Following this time, he was promoted to the assistant vice president of communications and signals for dispatch and PTC systems in 2022.

Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Walker earned a Bachelor of Arts in management and business from the University of North Florida College of Business Administration in 1994. Following this achievement, he attained a Master of Science in education with a minor in criminal justice from Troy University in 1999. He subsequently gained a Master of Arts in telecommunications management from the Webster University School of Business and Technology in 2002. Well-qualified in his field, he completed an executive development program from the Harvard Business School and a business leadership program at the University of Maryland College Park’s Smith School of Business.

Within the coming years, Mr. Walker intends to continue helping others, including by contributing towards local schools in his community and donating to charities through CSX Transportation. He is also scheduled to be a keynote speaker at the Railway Systems Suppliers’ annual conference in July 2024.
