EIRIS Foundation launches new CharitySRI website
London, 09/02/2023 – The EIRIS Foundation has created a new website, www.charitysri.org.uk, for charitable investors. It aims to support charities and foundations of all shapes and sizes to invest sustainably and responsibly, using the power of their own money and influence to help create a more sustainable financial system.
CharitySRI (Sustainable and Responsible Investment) provides information and resources on sustainable and responsible investing and ethical money – what it is, why it is and how to approach it in a way that is right for any charity. It offers tailored advice, case studies from charities at different stages of responsible investing, explanations of key topics in SRI and other free resources.
There’s still a huge disconnect between charities that say they want to invest sustainably and in a way that supports their charitable goals, and those that actually achieve it. The Charitysri website will be a hub of clear, accessible and practical information that will help bridge this gap.
Lisa Stonestreet, Head of Communications and Charity Impact at the EIRIS Foundation said:
“There are so many reasons why more and more charities are paying more attention to how their money is invested. In particular, there is an increased awareness of the systemic issues that need to be addressed within our financial system if we are to solve pressing problems such as climate change, biodiversity loss and growing inequality. As values-based, mission-driven organizations, charities have a natural and critical role to play in this transformation and a more equitable one and more sustainable economy.
91% of charities that responded to the Newton Charity Investment Survey 2022* believe that “Beyond exclusions [their] responsibility to invest responsibly”. It is not always clear for charities what is the best way to get started and even for the charities that have already done so, understanding of how to maximize the potential of their investments to achieve their mission and positive ones does not always follow to achieve changes. We hope that CharitySRI will help charities not only with the processes, but also in unlocking this potential.”
