Mr. Ng’s most notable accomplishment was his tenure as the executive editor of the New York Daily News from 2006 to 2009, where he was recognized as one of the top Asian editors in the country. Before reaching this pinnacle, he served as assistant managing editor at The Star-Ledger from 2000 to 2006 and deputy managing editor and metropolitan editor at the New York Daily News from 1993 to 2000. His career began at The New York Post, where he climbed the ranks from reporter to city editor and associate managing editor between 1980 and 1993. Mr. Ng’s leadership has not only shaped his career but also contributed to the fabric of American journalism.

The foundation of Mr. Ng’s success can be traced back to his academic roots, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in communication from Marist College in 1980. His education provided him with the critical thinking and communication skills necessary for a career in journalism. The values instilled by his family, particularly his mother, have been a guiding force throughout his professional journey. Mentors such as Paul Steiger and Jim Willse have also played pivotal roles in shaping his editorial philosophy and approach to leadership within the newsroom.

Additionally, Mr. Ng’s insights and expertise in journalism were acknowledged when he was chosen to serve on the Pulitzer Prize Committee in 2006 and 2007, including chairing the committee for Breaking News in 2007.

In his personal life, Mr. Ng is a devoted father to Isla Clare Ng and Esmé Maria Ng and finds joy in biking — a hobby that provides him with balance and rejuvenation outside of the newsroom.
