SAN ANTONIO, Calif. – Valentine’s Day is on Feb. 14, and one Texas zoo is offering a special promotion to celebrate the occasion.

The San Antonio Zoo is holding its annual “Cry Me A Cockroach” fundraiser, which allows guests to name a roach, rat or veggie after an ex or “not-so-special someone.”

“San Antonio Zoo will help squash your past, a true heartbreak healer, by feeding your selection to an animal resident,” the zoo’s website reads.

The zoo posted a feeding using one such rat on social media Wednesday.

Required donations for each item are as follows:

  • Name A Veggie — $5

  • Name A Roach — $10

  • Name A Rodent — $25

While the Zoo is in Texas, Florida residents can visit the zoo’s website here to take advantage of the limited-time offer.

To do so, pick which item you’d like to name, select the “dedicate my donation” box, add your “not-so-special someone’s” first name in the honoree line, and then complete your donation.

Donations are non-refundable, though donors will receive a digital Valentine’s Day card showing their support for the fundraiser.

Despite the heart-breaking theme, the zoo assures guests that live roaches are sourced from professional breeders, with the colony being cared for and maintained by the Reptile Department in the Reptile House.

Additionally, the zoo uses pre-frozen rodents and vegetable options such as romaine lettuce, cabbage and other leafy greens, zoo officials explain.
