Lucky Hank, a new series starring Bob Odenkirk, just got a trailer. After ending his era as wily attorney Saul Goodman on Better Call Saul, the Emmy-nominated star returns for another AMC project. This time he plays the eponymous, bitter English professor at a severely underfunded college who identifies as a born anarchist. Based on the 1997 novel “Straight Man” by Richard Russo, the eight-part series is slated to premiere March 19 on AMC+. In India, the AMC+ service is available as an additional channel on Amazon Prime Video. Gadgets360 has reached out to the latter for confirmation of the release date for India.

The trailer for Lucky Hank opens with a short-tempered William Henry ‘Hank’ Devereaux, Jr. (Odenkirk) Humiliation of a student due to lack of academic prospects. “The fact that you’re here means you’re showing very little promise,” he says. “You’re at Railton College, the capital of mediocrity!” It wasn’t long before the tone of his snide comments was made public, compounded by the fact that he’s the chair of the college’s English department. “You twisted my words — no, that’s … quite literal,” he reads from a transcript. His remarks set off a chain reaction of events challenging his authority, mandatory meetings with parents and personal text messages filled with hate.

“Adulthood is 80 percent misery,” he tells his wife, Lily (Mireille Enos), who is herself an assistant principal at the town’s local high school. As Hank’s midlife crisis nears boiling point, Lily decides to leave the mundane lifestyle behind and pursue her professional career elsewhere. But Hank insists on staying, for reasons only his therapist understands. “I worry that I might say something that really fits my personality. But incompatible with a modern college campus,” says Hank in the Lucky Hank Trailer presumably referring to an important faculty meeting regarding his role/dismissal from college.

The series chronicles the most absurd moments of Hank’s life — switching between family troubles, exchanging scathing comments with students, beating up peers, and even boxing a goose in the middle of the day. The Lucky Hank Trailer also touches on the prospect that he’s just a misunderstood citizen whose neighbors assume “it’s all a joke to him.” It’s essentially a dramatic showcase of one man’s downward spiral, all in the space of a single week.

The series originally had the same title as the book, “Straight Man”, but it was then revised last month too Lucky Hank. Rounding out the cast are Cedric Yarbrough, Sara Amini, Diedrich Bader, Suzanne Cryer and Olivia Scott Welch. Frequently David Lynch Collaborator Kyle MacLachlan will also guest star.

Lucky Hank is scheduled for release on March 19th AMC+. There is currently no confirmation as to whether the episodes will begin streaming on the same day Amazon Prime Videoin India.
