SeaWorld set to introduce new shows, attractions during 60th anniversary celebrations

ORLANDO, Fla.SeaWorld is gearing up to celebrate its 60th anniversary in style, with a handful of festivities and new attractions planned throughout the year.

As part of its “So Much More to Sea” campaign, SeaWorld said it will unveil all-new themed rides and attractions, presentations and shows, along with exclusive ticket offers and limited-edition food, drinks and merchandise.

The celebration kicks off on March 21, marking exactly 60 years since SeaWorld first opened its gates to the public in in San Diego, California in 1964.

In December, SeaWorld Orlando celebrated its 50th anniversary, having opened its gates in 1973.

The company said festivities will continue through March 24, with additional special events and experiences scheduled throughout the summer.

“Throughout our history, our SeaWorld parks have offered fun and enriching experiences, from up-close animal encounters and educational programs to award-winning marine-life themed rides and attractions, special events and exciting entertainment. We have been and continue to be committed to creating exciting and immersive experiences that help inspire guests of all ages to protect animals and the wild wonders of our world,” said Marc Swanson, CEO of SeaWorld Entertainment, Inc.

Among the highlights of SeaWorld’s 60th anniversary celebration include:

  • Highly-anticipated themed rides and attractions including “Penguin Trek” at SeaWorld Orlando, “Catapult Falls” at SeaWorld San Antonio and “Jewels of the Sea: The Jellyfish Experience” at SeaWorld San Diego.
  • New Cirque-style shows at SeaWorld Orlando and SeaWorld San Antonio, along with a live performance character show titled “Shamu and Crew – ‘Together Again’” at SeaWorld San Diego.

  • A new 60th Anniversary celebration parade featuring beloved live costumed characters will delight guests of all ages.

  • Exclusive limited-edition food and beverage offerings, collectibles, and memorabilia will allow guests to commemorate SeaWorld’s milestone anniversary throughout the year.

For the ultimate SeaWorld experience, guests are encouraged to purchase an annual pass, offering 12 months of visits with special benefits including free parking, free guest tickets, VIP event access, merchandise discounts and more.
