A leader in the nonprofit sector, Ms. Hamilton is the executive director at the Foothills Humane Society’s Shelter, a no-kill animal welfare organization in Columbus, North Carolina. She has many responsibilities in her role, including ensuring the highest quality of care for the animals. Ms. Hamilton also spends time networking with rescue groups, training the staff and the dogs, working with the public regarding surgery vouchers and education, and fundraising.

Looking toward the future, Ms. Hamilton’s goal includes having Foothills become self-sustainable with enough revenue to reduce its dependence on donors and eliminate threats of ever being shut down due to the economy.
Ms. Hamilton formerly worked as a shelter manager for Rutherford County Animal Control from 2017 to 2022. During her tenure, she was instrumental in a horse hoarding case where nearly 30 horses were confiscated. The case was concluded in 2023, and the defendant was charged with four felonies.
Besides her paid position, Ms. Hamilton volunteered for the Community Pet Center for over a decade. She remains active as a member of her local Kiwanis.
Ms. Hamilton holds an undergraduate degree in psychology. Well-qualified in her field, she received certification as a national animal cruelty investigator through the University of Missouri. She also has an administrator license for nursing homes. Ms. Hamilton is active in her professional industry as a member of the North Carolina Animal and Rabies Control Association.
In light of her success, Ms. Hamilton was recognized with a Save Them All Recognition from the Best Friends Animal Society in 2022.
