LGND Music, a Web3 music platform, is launched by Warner Music Group in partnership with Polygon. Launching in January 2023, the LGND Web3 platform will support NFTs built on any blockchain in a “proprietary player”. The Polygon blockchain by Indian developers Jaynti Kanani, Sandeep Nailwal, Anurag Arjun and Mihailo Bjelic is a green proof-of-stake blockchain. Its selection by Warner Music aims to offer lower gas rates and faster transactions on the LGND Web3 platform.
The upcoming Web3 The platform will be launched as a mobile app, but the service will also be available on the web. Select Warner Music artists may publish NFTs for their fans and interact with people through specially curated experiences.
An official announcement of this multi-year partnership was tweeted by polygon on Tuesday.
The LGND Web3 music platform was developed to provide music enthusiasts with a “virtual record” for on the go.
“With a seamless, easy-to-use gateway, you can buy and own music brands even if you’re unfamiliar with digital collectibles. Web3 has the power to transform the music industry for both artists and fans. This landmark partnership between Polygon, LGND and WMG represents an exciting milestone in the music industry,” Polygon’s tweet added.
As for Warner Music, which started in 2003, this isn’t their first Web3-focused collaboration. In January this year, the record company partnered with The Sandbox Metaverse to offer artists a portal for digital performances at virtual music concerts there.
The Web3 sector has recently managed to attract the attention of several international music artists.
Justin Bieber, Snoop Dogg, Ariana Grande, Eminem and Madonna are there among singers who have dabbled in the NFT and the Metaverse. So it’s not surprising that Warner Music is trying to strengthen its roots in the Web3 space.
