Elon Musk, the creator of SpaceX, and Mike Sievert, the CEO of T-Mobile US Inc. (TMUS.O), announced on Wednesday that they would make plans to improve connectivity on Thursday.

It will be “something special,” tweeted SpaceX CEO and richest man in the world Elon Musk.

In order to bring internet connectivity to underserved parts of the world, SpaceX’s satellite communications unit Starlink is launching a massive constellation of satellites into low Earth orbit.

Since 2019, SpaceX has launched 2,700 Starlink satellites in a steady stream, adding tens of thousands of new subscribers.

SpaceX, satellite operator OneWeb, and Jeff Bezos’s Kuiper project, a division of e-commerce behemoth Amazon.com Inc., compete fiercely in the low-Earth orbiting satellite internet market.
