OnePlus Buds Pro 2, the company’s latest truly wireless (TWS) earbuds, will be the first wireless earbuds to feature Google’s Spatial Audio technology designed for Android 13, according to the company. The TWS earbuds also support Android’s Fast Pair feature, which allows users to quickly connect to nearby Android devices with just a tap. OnePlus’ TWS earbuds will be unveiled on February 7th at a OnePlus Cloud 11 event alongside the OnePlus 11 and other devices from the company worldwide.

This was announced by the Shenzhen-based manufacturer of smartphones and consumer electronics on Tuesday OnePlus Buds Pro 2 will be launched in global markets via a press release featuring Google’s Spatial Audio technology for Android 13. OnePlus claims that the OnePlus Buds Pro 2, which are set to launch as the successor to the first generation OnePlus Buds Pro on February 7th in global markets including India, through a OnePlus Cloud 11 event, is the first-ever TWS earbuds to incorporate Google’s multidimensional audio technology designed for running devices Android 13.

The technology developed by Google ensures that the sound is delivered from a fixed source, even when a user moves their head. The feature appears to be similar to Apple’s Spatial Audio feature offered on the AirPods, AirPods Pro and AirPods Max models, which plays music from a fixed position while a user moves their head.

According to the company, the OnePlus Buds Pro 2 uses OnePlus’ spatial rendering algorithm and an IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) sensor to ensure stability and additional compatibility with third-party apps. The company claims to have developed a unique stereo upmixing algorithm that enables multidimensional sound from third-party audio and video apps.

As a reminder, those were the OnePlus Buds Pro 2 started in China on January 4th featuring an 11mm woofer and 6mm tweeter MelodyBoost dual driver setup co-developed with Dynaudio. OnePlus’ latest TWS launched in China with three equalizer options co-tuned by Dynaudio – Bold, Serenade and Bass. The TWS earbuds are claimed to offer up to 39 hours of battery life through a 520mAh battery that takes around an hour to fully charge and also supports Qi wireless charging.

The earbuds offer Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity with support for LHDC, AAC, SBC and LC3 audio codecs and feature Automatic Noise Cancellation (ANC) that reduces external noise by up to 48dB. For audio input, the device has three microphones that also come with AI-enabled noise cancellation. The TWS earbuds have an IP55 rating for dust and water resistance.

However, it’s important to note that OnePlus hasn’t confirmed if the OnePlus Buds Pro 2 will launch globally with the same specs as the one launched in China. Users will likely have to wait until launch to learn more about the pricing of the TWS earbuds in India and other global markets outside of China.
