Apple has added support for Mac desktops and the Studio display to its US self-service repair service program. Launched last year for select iPhone models and extended to MacBook laptop models powered by M1 chips, the self-service repair service provides users with genuine replacement parts, as well as repair guides and tools to help users repair their devices can repair at home. The service will now also be available on Mac desktops with M1 chips.
The Cupertino, California-based company’s self-service program website was discovered to include real ones Apple Parts, tools and manuals for iMac (M1, 2021), M1 Mac mini, M1 Ultra Mac Studio – running on M1 chips. In the meantime, the Studio Display has also been added to the list of supported devices.
The Apple Self Service program, originally launched in the US, has recently expanded to offer services in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, Sweden and the UK. Apple made the expansion Notice via an official Newsroom blog post on December 6th.
However, support for the recently launched iMac (M1, 2021), M1 Mac mini, M1 Ultra Mac Studio and Studio Display is currently limited to the US. This would mean that the original parts and tools are not yet shipped outside of the US.
The iMac, Mac mini (M1, 2020) and M1 Ultra Mac Studio self-service repair guides are accessible to all users on Apple support Website. This repair guide is also available for Apple’s Studio Display on Official Support side.
Apple’s self-service program has been organized to cover display, case, battery and trackpad repair issues, while also offering users a four-piece loaner toolkit at a weekly rental price of $49 (approx. Rs. 3,900), designed specifically for each Apple device.
The newly launched Device Toolkits for iMac (M1, 2021), M1 Mac mini, M1 Ultra Mac Studio and Studio Display all have the same 7-day rental price of $49.
