ChromeOS 111 with Fast Pair support is introduced for Chromebooks

Google rolls out ChromeOS 111 stable release for Chromebooks. The latest ChromeOS Stable Channel update brings new features, including Google’s Fast Pair support for compatible Bluetooth accessories. The arrival of the latest stable version offers a simplified pairing experience on the devices between the supported platforms using the same Google account. ChromeOS 111 release will be made generally available in the coming days. Users will soon be able to see an update on their devices.

According to a google to blogthe latest stable update for ChromeOS 111 is now available for Chromebook users and includes features like Fast Pair. It simplifies the pairing experience for compatible Bluetooth devices, including earbuds and wearables. In addition, users can also easily move these devices between fast-pair-enabled platforms that use the same Google account, it says Google. Currently Fast Pair is only supported on Bluetooth audio devices and on Chromebooks.

To access the Fast Pair feature on Chromebooks, users must turn on Bluetooth and put the Fast Pair-enabled device, such as Pixel Buds, into pairing mode. If the device is new to the Chromebook, users must click Connect. However, if the device was previously connected to the Chromebook, it will automatically connect using Fast Pair.

Google announced the Fast Pair feature for Chromebooks in January 2022. However, the feature is now rolling out.

Recently also Google introduced Memory saving and energy saving mode also for Mac, Windows, Linux and Chromebooks. Both memory and power saving modes improve desktop performance and extend battery life when using the Google browser. The Memory Saver mode automatically frees up space occupied by inactive tabs, while the Energy Saver feature limits background activity and reduces battery consumption. Google first introduced storage and power saving modes in December 2022, but the feature was limited to Chrome for desktop only.
