The government intends to increase electronics manufacturing capacity to Rs. 24 lakh crore by 2025-26, which will also help create over 10 lakh jobs, Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar said on Friday.

Speaking at an event in Bengaluru, the minister said the country is now at a turning point – the most exciting time in its history – and the current generation of students is the happiest generation in the history of independent India.

“… Narendra Modi’s government aims to increase electronics manufacturing capacity to Rs. 24,000 by 2025-26, which will also help create over 10,000 jobs,” he is quoted as saying in an official statement.

He said there are more than 90,000 startups, including 110 unicorns, in which young Indians play a big part.

The minister said at least 15,000 young Karnataka Indians will be trained in industry-relevant, future-ready skills.

“Remembering ‘Appu’ (popular Kannada actor Puneeth Rajkumar, as he was commonly known) on his birthday, Rajeev Chandrasekhar said the day is commemorated as ‘Spoorti Dina’ or Inspirational Day and the occasion could not be more fitting could discuss opportunities in IndiaTechade with students,” the statement said.

In response to a request for Silicon Valley Bank Crisis and the role of the Indian government in mitigating the woes of startups, Chandrasekhar said: “The Indian banking system is much more resilient and stronger compared to the banking systems of other countries. Startups should therefore choose Indian banks as their preferred banking partner.”
