The new version of the Microsoft Edge browser has reportedly been in testing for almost a year. It is now set to launch with a built-in Secure Network VPN service. However, few users have access to the latest stable version of Microsoft Edge. The update, previously only available as Insider versions, may be about to launch as it has already rolled out to some users. The built-in VPN in the web browser reportedly offers 1GB per month of free VPN traffic.

Microsoft reportedly worked on the Edge browser to offer an extra layer of security. Development was the first written down last year when was the Edge Secure Network with built in VPN sighted on the support page of the Microsoft website. It is now expected that a new stable version of Microsoft Edge with a built-in VPN service could be launched soon.

Twitter user Arnold Beckenbauer (@Arnold_Beckenba) recently divided Screenshots hinting at the launch of Microsoft Edge 110, which includes the feature. The feature reportedly offers 1GB of free VPN traffic every month, with a total of 15GB of free data. To use data beyond the prescribed limit, users have to pay additional costs.

A report from DrWindows also revealed that the feature was developed in collaboration with Cloudflare. However, the tariff fees of the service are not yet known.

edgeThe secure network reportedly provides an extra layer of security by replacing the user’s original IP address with another IP address from the same region. In this way, a user will not encounter any problems when accessing a website due to an incorrect location. However, this also means that Edge’s VPN service is a little different from other VPN services that offer access to web services outside of the current region or country.

As can be seen from the screenshots, Edge 110 Secure Network supports three modes of operation: Selected Sites, Optimized and All Sites. This allows users to choose whether they want to protect some websites or all with VPN.
