Microsoft will stop selling its Windows 10 Home and Pro downloads starting later this month. The tech giant made the announcement through its Windows 10 product page. The announcement states that January 31, 2023 will be the last day to sell the Windows 10 download and its license keys. However, Microsoft is still offering security updates for Windows 10 until October 2025. From October 14, 2025, the tech giant will completely stop supporting Windows 10.
According to the product page windows 10 Home and Pro downloads will be on sale until January 31, 2023. However, the operating system will continue to receive security updates until October 14, 2025 to protect PCs from viruses, spyware and other malware. During Microsoft didn’t share many details about it, Windows Marketing Director Amy Bartlow told The Verge that customers can buy Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 Pro from the official site up to the above time window. “The Windows 10 product page has been updated to ensure customers have the latest information on Windows 10 purchasing options,” she said.
However, Bartlow didn’t share anything about how the company will handle Windows 10 downloads and license keys offered by third-party providers like Amazon. Microsoft has encouraged users to get their hands on it Windows11 as the tech giant will completely end support for Windows 10 from October 2025. Windows 10 was first released in 2015. The company first announced that it would end support for the operating system in June 2021 before rolling out Windows 11.
Meanwhile, Microsoft recently stopped Security updates and technical support for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 on January 10th. Additionally, support for WebView2 also ended on January 10th. The announcement came with the launch of Microsoft Edge 109. Notably, the browser will continue to work on these devices. However, it will not receive any security updates or new features.
In early October 2022, Google announced that it would end support for Chrome on Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 on February 7, 2023. The PCs or laptops running Windows 8.1 or Windows 7 are prone to bugs, malware or other online security risks. The devices also don’t get the latest updates and features from the company.
