The Nothing Phone 1 is getting the long-awaited and long-overdue update to Android 13. In a gradual rollout, the Nothing Phone 1 devices are reportedly set to start the next software update by the end of this week. Carl Pie, the co-founder of OnePlus, founded the independent consumer tech startup called Nothing about two years ago in London, UK. Besides the Phone 1, Nothing has also released two versions of true wireless headphones so far.
According to 91Mobiles, an official confirmation is being awaited reportNothing’s support team, in response to a user’s query, have claimed that Android 13 will launch in the UK later this week.
The company wanted to test Android 13 thoroughly before deploying it to their devices as an OTA update. Selected testers of the phone were allowed to do this Nothing OS 1.5 beta version based on Android 13 update. Nothing started an open beta for the Android 13 based Nothing OS 1.5 update in December.
With an officer blog entryNothing was announced about the latest update based on Android 13. The new operating system offers Nothing Phone 1 users a 50 percent increase in app loading speed. The update also introduces multilingual support for third-party apps and adds a new weather app with the company’s custom Nothing UI.
The software update is also said to bring a new volume control UI, a new glyph ringtone, wallpapers, and notification tones. A new media control design and self-healing feature were also reported as part of the updated Phone 1 package.
Google released its latest Android 13 on August 15, 2022. Google Pixel Phones were the first devices to receive this Android update itself last year.
The update was later rolled out for Motorola, OnePlus, oppo, xiaomi, AsusAnd Samsung also smartphones.
It could take until the end of February for the update to reach the majority of Nothing Phone 1 users, including in India. Meanwhile, Nothing is also gearing up to launch the Nothing Phone 2 later this year. The Nothing Phone 2 will allegedly have at least 12 GB of RAM, a 120 Hz AMOLED display, a 5,000 mAH battery and an unannounced Qualcomm Snapdragon 8-series chipset.
