Nothing Phone 1 was launched in July 2022 and its successor is expected to launch later this year. Carl Pei, CEO of Nothing, who was also a co-founder of OnePlus, previously announced the Nothing Phone 2, stating that it would launch in late 2023. Pei said the United States will be a priority market for the British brand’s upcoming smartphone. The Nothing Phone 2 is expected to be a more premium device than the Nothing Phone 1, with the software being the focus of the company as previously reported. A recent report has suggested some of the phone’s key specs, its launch schedule and the device’s model number.

Citing a tipster, the report hints that the upcoming smartphone will be over Nothing will offer a “flagship experience”. The report adds that the phone is expected to be launched in the second half of 2023, most likely in the third quarter, i.e. from July to September.

According to reports, Nothing Phone 2 will have at least 12GB of RAM and will also support virtual RAM, which is reportedly taken from the 256GB of internal storage. The report adds that the phone will have a 5,000mAh battery instead of a 4,500mAh battery used in the phone Nothing phone 1.

The report notes that the Nothing Phone 2 will feature an AMOLED display that refreshes at 120Hz, and that the adaptive display will update automatically based on onscreen content usage. According to the report, the phone will likely be powered by an unannounced Qualcomm Snapdragon 8-series chipset.

If you’re making a smartphone for the US, you’ll need to work with the wireless carriers to certify and adapt some of their features to your operating system. We didn’t have the resources to do that before, and now we have them,” Pei said. “We couldn’t do it sooner because we were only a sophomore and our hands were tied building the team building the products. Now that we are on a firmer footing, we can take a step forward.”

The Dual SIM (Nano) Nothing Phone 1 started in July 2022. It runs on Android 12 and has a 6.55-inch Full HD+ OLED display with an adaptive refresh rate of 120 Hz and Corning Gorilla Glass protection. The same Gorilla Glass is also used on the back of the device. The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+ chipset and up to 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM. The phone also offers a glyph interface that allows users to customize the lighting effects on the back of the phone for specific contacts and notifications.
