Xiaomi Pad 6 was recently started in India as the successor to the Xiaomi Pad 5 that was launched in 2022. Just like last year’s model, Xiaomi has tried to pack its latest tablet with a range of features and a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset while keeping the price of the device low at Rs. 30,000. The Xiaomi Pad 6 has an 11-inch LCD display, runs Android 13 by default and Xiaomi claims to be able to offer up to two days of battery backup. It is equipped with a 13-megapixel main camera and an 8-megapixel selfie camera.

This week on Orbital, the Gadgets 360 Podcast, resident gadget expert Pranav hedgewho has spent some time with Xiaomi’s latest tablet speaks to guest moderator Sheldon Pinto about the device. Pinto checked The Xiaomi Pad 5 last year, and the duo discuss some of the changes and upgrades made to this year’s model and how it compares to the competition.

The Xiaomi Pad 6 isn’t exactly a new device – it launched in China earlier this year and made its way to India just last week. It runs on an Android 13 based MIUI 14 for Pad. The tablet features an 11-inch Dolby Vision LCD display with a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz and supports a peak brightness of up to 550 nits.

Equipped with a slightly older Snapdragon 870 chip, paired with 8 GB of RAM, the Xiaomi Pad 6 should be more than suitable for everyday tasks and a few games – you can read more details on the tablet’s performance in our review. The processor is a slight upgrade over last year’s Snapdragon 860 chip, which was an upgrade over Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855+ SoC.

You can also purchase a few accessories compatible with the tablet, which were announced by the company when it launched the Xiaomi Pad 6 in India last week. These include the Xiaomi Pad 6 keyboard, cover and Xiaomi Smart Pen (2nd generation). Hopefully Xiaomi can ensure that this accessory remains available while the product is available for purchase in the country.

Xiaomi’s latest tablet features a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel selfie camera. As with most tablet devices, you may be using the camera to click images of documents and similar materials while relying on the smartphone camera for regular photography. In our review, you can see the camera examples and details on their performance in different scenarios.

The recently launched Xiaomi Pad 6 has a large 8,840mAh battery with support for 33W wired charging. According to Xiaomi, it takes around 100 minutes to fully charge the battery at this charging speed. According to Xiaomi, the tablet should also last up to two days on a single charge.
