Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is indefinitely delaying its console release to focus solely on fixing issues in the PC version. The game was slated for release on Xbox Series S/X shortly after its PC launch in November, but didn’t offer any release information prior to that announcement. As a result, developer Fatshark has also decided to delay the promised seasonal launch of content for the game and to address feedback regarding building a “full” crafting system, a rewarding progression loop, and optimizing performance on PC. While console players might be a little disappointed with this announcement, following the generally mixed reception of Warhammer 40,000: Darktide on Steam, this seems like the right move.
“We at Fatshark are extremely proud of our ability to deliver a game enjoyed by millions. That’s what we had planned Warhammer 40,000: Darktide – to create a highly immersive and stable game with a depth that will keep you playing for weeks, not hours.” fat shark CEO and co-founder Martin Wahlund reads. “We have not met those expectations.” In addition to the delay in the Xbox Series S/X version, the developer will suspend the upcoming release of premium cosmetics and focus exclusively on polishing the game. The developer claims that it could not continue on the path of releasing new content without addressing the growing concerns of players.
Published in end of November, Warhammer 40K Darktide seemed destined for success thanks to its visceral combat and highly detailed environments. Borrowing the four-player co-op formula from his earlier fantasy-based contributions to Warhammer: bugs 1 and vermin 2, it almost felt like a no-brainer to add 40K’s gunplay into the mix for better results. In it, players are thrown into the ruthless hive city of Tertium to confront bloodthirsty enemies – a heretical cult known as Admonition, who seeks to take control of the planet Atoma Prime. Customization is divided into class, appearance, and gender, with an additional focus on the crafting system. Unfortunately, the latter made an incomplete impression, which Fatshark, as mentioned above, wants to resolve.
Fatshark was recently releasedThe signal update, the first content drop for Darktide, which added a new Comms-Plex 154/2f mission, two new weapons for the Zealots and Ogryns classes, and the highly requested private session feature. The update also included two new mission modifiers, with “Hunting Grounds” featuring an increased number of Pox Hounds and Assault missions that increased ammo selection while reducing healing ability.
Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is available to play personal computer about steam and PC game pass. As mentioned above, the Xbox Series S/X version has been delayed indefinitely.
