In the April-June period, worldwide tablet shipments reached 34.4 million units, marking a 22.1% increase compared to the same period last year. This growth indicates a successful rebound in tablet demand, bringing shipment levels back to those seen before the pandemic.
Apple led the market with 12.3 million iPads shipped during Q2, enhancing its market share to 35.8%. The company’s strong performance was bolstered by the release of new 11” and 13” iPad Air and iPad Pro models, which contributed to its global market share increase. However, Apple’s dominance was somewhat challenged in China, where local brands Huawei and Xiaomi posed significant competition.
Samsung secured the second spot with 6.9 million tablets shipped, resulting in a 20.1% market share. Lenovo followed in third place with 2.5 million shipments and a 7.3% market share. Huawei came in fourth, shipping 2.3 million tablets and capturing a 6.8% market share, largely due to the strong demand for its latest MatePad series.
Xiaomi ranked fifth with 2 million tablets shipped, holding a 5.8% market share. The company experienced the highest year-over-year growth at 94.7%, driven by notable gains in several European markets.
