On Friday, Meta Platforms said that the problem preventing users from accessing its social media platforms had been resolved.
A spokeswoman for Meta said, “Earlier today, a configuration change resulted in some users having issues accessing our products.”
According to the outage monitoring website Downdetector.com, more than 11,000 users of Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger had problems accessing the applications, sending messages, and registering into their accounts.
By combining status information from many sources, including user-submitted problems on its platform, Downdetector keeps track of outages. There’s a chance that more customers are being impacted by the outage.
Just earlier this week, the messaging service WhatsApp owned by Meta experienced a worldwide outage that was subsequently fixed.
Users in India started to report problems with accessing WhatsApp at around 12:30 pm on October 25 this week, according to information from website and app downtime tracking service Downdetector, with about 2,610 reports.
WhatsApp claimed that a “technical fault” was to blame for the outage in a late-night announcement on Tuesday. A spokeswoman for the Meta firm had stated that “the brief downtime was the consequence of a technical fault on our end and has since been fixed.”
The number of user reports on Downdetector from users in the UK was 63,930, while user reports from users in Brazil and Spain were 4,248 and 26,043 respectively.
Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, and other areas in India appear to be the most affected by the outage, according to Downdetector’s “heat map.”
The outage also appears to be affecting WhatsApp Web and WhatsApp’s desktop apps, which operate independently of an internet connection on a connected phone.
According to rumors, WhatsApp was required to submit a report outlining the outage problem by the IT Ministry.
