After Elon Musk officially took over Twitter on Friday, former US president Donald Trump expressed his happiness that the social media platform was in “sane hands,” but he remained mum on whether he would reinstate his account.
Trump claimed his own social media platform, Truth Social, “looks and works better.” Trump stated in a statement on his platform, “I LOVE TRUTH.” After the horrific attack on the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, Trump was prohibited from using Twitter. Trump had declared he would not return, but Musk has stated he will restore his account.
On Friday, Donald Trump announced that he will continue to utilize his own Truth Social platform despite Elon Musk, a billionaire, taking control of Twitter and promising to restore the former US president’s account.
Without specifically stating that he will refrain from posting on Twitter if his account is restored, Trump said in an interview with Fox News, “I like Elon, but I’m keeping on Truth.”
According to Trump, when he writes on his own platform, “it travels all over the place regardless.” Everyone who is on Twitter and other social media platforms posted it nonetheless.
Musk, a self-described “absolutist” for free speech, seized control of Twitter on Thursday with merciless efficiency, sacking top executives but providing no detail on how he will carry out his ambitious plans for the powerful social media network.
Just hours after Musk started a new era at Twitter, he was inundated with requests and pleas from individuals with banned accounts and world leaders.
Others who had their Twitter accounts suspended may shortly have them reinstated.
However, Musk recently tweeted that he will be creating a Twitter content moderation group with a wide range of perspectives.
No significant content decisions or account reinstatements will be made on the social media site prior to the council meeting.
