OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – Just reading this headline probably put Dolly Parton’s “9 to 5″ song in your head.
The musical based on the 1980 film is being performed at Osceola Arts.
It follows three female co-workers pushed to the boiling point by their egotistical boss. When they give their workplace a dream makeover, their adventures lead to empowerment, friendship, and maybe some romance.
Logan Laree plays one of those co-workers, Doralee.
“I can relate to Doralee in the way that she is quite misunderstood. We are both sweet, sassy little firecrackers that have so much more to them once you get past the façade,” said Laree.
Work on the show started in November with rehearsals in December.
“People can expect an amazing show. This show lets people laugh and just have a great time while watching an incredibly talented cast. They will leave having laughed, smiled and cheering on the main characters‚” said Joy Belding, who’s directing the show.
The musical features some of Parton’s iconic songs, including, “9 to 5,” “Backwoods Barbie,” and “Get Out and Stay Out.”
“This show is all about female empowerment! There are so many messages in the show that are important to the world right now, but to me, the most important is the power of female friends,” said Laree.
An audio-described performance will be on Friday, March 14 at 7:30 p.m..
