Disney Shares Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana Update

BAY LAKE, Fla. – Walt Disney World Imagineers are continue their work about the upcoming new experience Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana.

The new attraction at EPCOT will be the first Disney Parks experience commemorating the hit film from Walt Disney Animation Studios. Imagineers said the lush exploration trail will invite guests to meet and play with magical living water. Just like Moiana’s friend the sea, water will have its own personality and help guests learn how to protect the natural water cycle in a fun and engaging way.

On Tuesday, Disney posted an update on its blog highlighting the work in progress to bring the attraction to life.

Disney Imagineers already installed the giant at the beginning of December 16 foot tall Te Fiti figure.

“Being part of the team that helped create Te Fiti was magical,” said Diana Bibee, senior production designer at Walt Disney Imagineering. “We’ve been working on her for years. Many WDI craftsmen worked to find precise textures, the color, that would evoke their presence in a physical form.”

Imagineers said they worked hand-in-hand with Walt Disney Animation Studios to bring the statue to life.

“As guests walk the path, they will encounter Te Fiti, which protects the water as it travels through the hydrological cycle,” Disney explained on his blog. “Together with Moana as water conservation steward, Te Fiti is a symbol of how we should protect and care for water wherever we find it.”

When the new experience opens later this year, it will be live new neighborhood EPCOT World Naturean area dedicated to understanding and preserving the beauty, reverence and balance of the natural world.
