CLERMONT, Fla. – Southern Hill Farms is known for its fall festival that attracts thousands on any given day.

On Sept. 9 one of the warehouses full of farm equipment was hit by lightning, sparking a fire which caused thousands of dollars in damage. Several tractors and farm vehicles that are critical to farm operations burned to a complete loss.

“We are so excited that we’re going to have our fall festival starting tomorrow, and we are going to have carnival rides. That includes face painting for the kids. We’ve got our petting zoo, we’ve got our corn maze, and our sunflowers survived the hurricane yesterday, said Southern Hill Farms Owner, Lisa Hill. “We’ve got a pumpkin area. We’ve got live music, food trucks, so much for families to do.”

The owners were able to file an insurance claim and are thankful no one was hurt in the fire.

The 9th annual Fall Festival starts Saturday and runs every Thursday-Sunday through Nov. 17.

    Tickets must be purchased online.
