Regionalization of races to ease the logistical burden on F1 teams

For 2024 there is an increased focus on calendar regionalization to ease the logistical burden formula 1 which teams are currently playing against. Many races have been moved from their typical calendar dates to be closer to other races in the same geographic regions. This will make the complicated task of transporting equipment and staff a little easier, and is also in line with Formula 1’s stated goals of making the sport more sustainable in terms of carbon emissions.

These changes include moving the Japanese Grand Prix to April to align with Australian and Chinese racing, and moving the Azerbaijan Grand Prix to September, close to the Singapore Grand Prix. The Qatar Grand Prix is now the penultimate race on the calendar and takes place a week before the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

There are still some awkward outliers, such as the Miami Grand Prix, which takes place between Asia and Europe, and Canada, which steps in between Monaco and Spain (both in western Europe), but those races have been buffered by gaps of at least two weeks . Notably, the 2024 season will feature the highest number of races in an F1 season ever, with 24 scheduled races in 21 countries.
