The 2023 Golden Globes took place in California on Tuesday night, celebrating the best talent in film and entertainment over the past year. Both The Fabelmans and The Banshees of Inisherin led the field of winners, each with two top honors, with the former taking the coveted award for Best Picture in the Drama category. Its director, Stephen Spielberg, won Best Director this year, while the latter won Martin McDonagh for Best Screenplay. Colin Farrell, the leading actor in Irish black comedy, also won Best Actor in a Musical/Comedy. On the TV side, big winners at the 2023 Golden Globes included Game of Thrones spin-off House of the Dragon and season two of The White Lotus and Abbott Elementary.
India was also in the running for this year’s Golden Globes. During SS Rajamouli’s action-packed epic RRR in the Best Foreign Language Film category, he received an award for Best Original Song thanks to his energetic piece “Naatu Naatu”. The song was too the shortlist for the coming oscars in the similar category.
Elsewhere, the leads of the overly creative Everything Everywhere All at Once, Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan, who won Best Actor in the Musical/Comedy Motion Picture category. Other notable achievements are zendaya Best Actress Award for euphoria season 2 and Jennifer Coolidge for Best Supporting Actress for The White Lotus’ second season Both actresses have been recognized in similar fields during the Emmy Awards 2022 back in September.
Hosted by comedian actor Jerrod Carmichael, the Golden Globes 2023 marked the return of the ceremony to a televised broadcast after allegations of racism and unethical behavior were leveled against the Hollywood Foreign Press Association – the organization that organizes the awards – in 2021.
