On Wednesday, James Gunn, the director of Guardians of the Galaxy and newly appointed co-CEO of DC Studios, confirmed on Twitter that a Superman movie is in the works, but one that will focus on an earlier, younger version of the hero. The Suicide Squad filmmaker has been working on the script for some time now and revealed that the character is understandably not being portrayed by Cavill. The 39-year-old actor announced his return to the DC Universe back in October following the release of the Dwayne Johnson-led film Black Adamwith reports claiming that Warner Bros. had plans to create a Man of Steel sequel.

Both Gunn and DC Studios Co-CEO Peter Saffron met recently Warner Bros. Discovery Head David Zaslav to reveal their relief plans “reset to default” the DC universe. According to Gunn himself, it also came with a “great meeting”. Cavill, where they talked about “a number of exciting possibilities for collaboration in the future”. The actor recently announced his departure from Netflix main line The Witcher Series confirmed the news Instagramand wish everyone involved the best of luck in their quest to reinvent the comic book universe.

The changing of the guard is something that happens. I respect that,” he said post reads. “It’s my turn to wear the cape, but what Superman stands for never will. It’s been a fun ride with you all, onward and upwards.” As previously mentioned, Cavill was reportedly brought back lead a man of Steel episode, as a Hunt for Writers started in the offices of WBD. He was last seen in the red cloak during a post-credits scene from Black AdamJohnson did that despite Protests by those in power at the time in DC.

In response to replies on Twitter, Gunn confirmed that the Superman project will not be an Origin film and he has no idea who will be directing it just yet. However, the filmmaker and the DC exec did mention a meeting Ben Affleck (Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice), “precisely because” the latter wants to lead a project and the studio has similar intentions. However, you still need to find the right project.

Last week, reports showed up and claimed so patty jenkins latest treatment of the wonder woman Series of films stopped moving forward at DC Studios. Some outlets claimed that the filmmaker “walked away” from the project after a dispute over notes with the studio. in one expression shared on her TwitterJenkins went on to clean up any misinformation regarding the cancellation of wonder woman 3. “When there was backlash about World War III not happening, the attractive clickbait false story that it was me who killed it or walked away began to spread.” “That’s just not true. I never went away I was open to whatever was asked of me. It was my understanding that there was nothing I could do to move anything forward at this point. direct current is obviously buried in changes they need to make, so I understand these decisions are difficult at the moment.

Gunn even responded to her statement, saying, “I can attest that all of Peter’s and my interactions with you have been nothing but pleasant and professional.” During a meeting last week, both Gunn and Safran, along with the co-chairs of Warner Bros Pictures, Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy, Jenkins broke the news, informing her that the direction of Wonder Woman 3 “didn’t fit into the new (but still unfolding) plans.” That report came just a day later wonder woman and Wonder Woman 1984 lead GalGadot expressed her excitement to once again play the titular Amazonian warrior her own twitter.
