Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has cast Karan Soni to voice Spider-Man India. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Deadpool star – known as Taxi Driver Dopinder – will bring to life the animated Pavitr Prabhakar, an alternate Earth-50101 version of the webcrawler residing in Mumbattan, a visual blend of bustling Mumbai and Manhattan cities. The art style for both the character and dimension is based on 1970s comics from India, presumably with a watercolored palette. The film serves as a sequel to the Oscar-winning Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and is slated for release in June.

For the uninitiated, Pavitr Prabhakar made his debut in the Spider Man: India Series of comic books in late 2004 that follow similar plot lines to those of Peter Parkers Arc, in the sense that he has no parents and lives with his uncle and aunt. As the story goes, he received Spidey powers from an ancient yogi he encounters while being pursued by a group of thugs. Like Parker, the death of Prabhakar’s uncle inspires him to use his powers for good and soon finds himself embroiled in a battle with a local crime boss. As for his looks, co-producers Phil Lord And Christopher Mueller revealed some concept art for the character in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, earlier this year. In it, Prabhakar can be seen wearing a type of blue dhoti while his long, wavy hair hangs outside the mask.

The duo previously confirmed this Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will occur six major art styles, aiming to “impress” the audience every time they step into a new dimension. For example Gwen Stacy’s (Hailee Steinfeld) Earth-65 sports a watercolor wash style reminiscent of their comic book covers. A Fan from last year, Miles Morales revealed (Shameik Moore), who is drawn into an interdimensional adventure by Stacy, alluding to encounters with numerous other versions of Spidermanincluding those from insomniac video games. Oscar Isaacwho previously voiced Miguel O’Hara/Spider-Man 2099 in the post-credits scene of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse returns in this sequel and can be seen battling Morales across dimensions.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse also has stars Jason Schwartzman (The French Dispatch) as the enigmatic time-hopper villain Spot, Daniel Kaluya (nope) as Spider-Punk and Issa Rae (The Lovebirds), who allegedly Voices Jessica Drew aka Spider-Woman.

earlier this month, reports emerged to claim that a Spider-Man Noir live-action series was in the works Amazon Studios, focused on an “elderly, grizzled superhero set in 1930s New York,” though we won’t see Peter Parker under the mask. Oren Uziel (Mortal Kombat) is attached to write and produce the show. Silk: Spider Society, a series based on Silk aka Cindy Moon, is also included supposedly in development.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is hitting theaters worldwide 2th of June. In India, the animated film will be released in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
