LOS ANGELES – Lisa Marie Presley – Elvis Presley’s only child and a singer herself – was hospitalized on Thursday, her mother said in a statement.
“My beloved daughter Lisa Marie was taken to the hospital. She’s getting the best care now,” said Priscilla Presley. “Please keep her and our family in your prayers. We feel the prayers from around the world and ask for privacy during this time.”
Los Angeles County EMTs were dispatched to a home in Calabasas at 10:37 a.m. after a woman was reported in complete cardiac arrest, according to Craig Little, a spokesman for the county fire department. Property records indicate that Presley resides at this address.
Paramedics arrived about six minutes later, Little said. A later statement from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said paramedics performed CPR and “determined that the patient had signs of life” before immediately rushing her to the hospital.
Her condition was not immediately available.
Nestled between the foothills of the Santa Monica and Santa Susanna Mountains, the city of Calabasas is approximately 50 kilometers northwest of downtown Los Angeles.
News of Presley’s hospitalization was first reported by TMZ and later confirmed by People Magazine.
Presley, 54, attended the Golden Globes on Tuesday to celebrate Austin Butler’s award She plays her father in “Elvis”. She called his performance “stunning” during a red carpet interview with Entertainment Tonight.
“I really didn’t know what to do with myself after seeing it,” she said told ET about Baz Luhrmann’s film. “It took me about five days to process it because it was so incredible and so poignant and just so authentic that I can’t even describe what it meant.”
Just days earlier, on January 8, she was in Memphis, Tennessee, at Graceland — the mansion where Elvis lived — to celebrate her father’s birthday.
A rep for Lisa Marie Presley had no comment when reached by The Associated Press.
Presley recently wrote an essay published in People about “the horrific reality” of her grief that follows her Son of Benjamin Keough Death by suicide in 2020.
“I have been dealing with death, grief and loss since I was 9 years old. I’ve had it more than anyone in my life and somehow I’ve made it this far,” she wrote in August.
Presley is also the mother of actor Riley Keough and twin daughters. Keogh’s reps did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
