PVR Cinemas has opened its new Aerohub multiplex in Chennai, which is set to be India’s first multiplex in an airport complex. Located within the airport complex at Chennai International Airport, the new multiplex will have five screens and a total seating capacity of 1,155. Aside from serving arriving and departing passengers at the airport, Aerohub will also be accessible to residents and visitors to the general area surrounding the airport, not just visitors to the airport itself.
The multiplex has modern equipment and compatibility for current generation screening technologies, including 2K RGB+ laser projectors, real D 3D stereo projection and Dolby Atmos Audio. Passengers arriving or departing from Chennai International Airport will of course benefit most from PVR Aerohub’s location, especially those looking for something to do before or between flights through Chennai.
“Establishing a cinema next to the airport is of strategic importance as we aim to offer a movie experience to travellers/passengers who may arrive early at Chennai Airport to catch their flight or are waiting for a delayed flight while still enjoying theirs Use your free time effectively at your disposal. With a strong content offering and a huge pent-up demand from film connoisseurs, we are confident that our customers will appreciate our new cinema for a holistic cinematic experience,” said Sanjeev Kumar Bijli, Joint Managing Director, PVR.
PVR is one of the leading multiplex chains in India, notably establishing the country’s first multiplex in Saket, Delhi in 1997. The company currently operates 182 cinemas in 78 cities in India and Sri Lanka with a total of 908 screens, making it one of the country’s leading cinema operators.
