The creators of the upcoming spin-off series Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story revealed the official teaser and streaming date on Tuesday. On Instagram, OTT platform Netflix shared the teaser with the caption “A love story that changed the world. Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story streaming May 4th on Netflix only. Save the date.” The limited series is set to stream on OTT platform Netflix from May 4, 2023, with the official teaser trailer released today.
According to Deadline, a US-based new outlet, the Bridgerton-Verse prequel focuses on Queen Charlotte’s rise to prominence and power. The series will tell the story of how the young Queen’s marriage to King George sparked both a great love story and societal change, creating the world of clay inherited by the characters in Bridgeton. Shortly after the creators unveiled the teaser, fans flooded the comments section with red hearts and fire emoticons.
“I can’t tell you how long I’ve been waiting for this,” one fan commented. Another user wrote, “Can’t wait.”
Golda Rosheuvel will star in the role of the titular queen, with India Amarteifio introduced as young Charlotte, a young woman on the brink of greatness, albeit with a price. Also returning from the original series are Adjoa Andoh as Lady Agatha Danbury, Ruth Gemmell as Lady Violet Bridgerton, and Hugh Sachs as Brimsley.
Arsema Thomas will make her TV debut as a young Agatha Danbury, friend and confidant of Charlotte’s when Her Majesty needed guidance most. Corey Mylchreest plays young King George, a handsome and charming king with a mysterious past that keeps him from fully committing to love. Queen Charlotte is part of the Bridgerton universe and is based on the popular Bridgerton show that premiered on Netflix in December 2020 and has since garnered a huge following.
