Disney+ Hotstar has announced a list of 42 films and web series to be released on its streaming platform in December 2022. Among the new additions is David O. Russells Amsterdam finally got its Indian premiere and takes us back to the criminal 1930s to follow three close friends – Christian Bale, Margot Robbie and John David Washington – as they find themselves in the midst of one of the most outrageous events in American history. The film is Russell’s first film since being nominated for an Oscar joyand was released on December 7th on Disney+ Hotstar. Exactly one week later, Martin McDonagh’s latest Irish black comedy The Banshees of Inisherin will be available to stream on the platform. The critically acclaimed film reunites Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson since 2008’s In Bruges and is out 14 December.
December 2022 started from India with the Kartik Aaryan-led love thriller, freddy, which follows a shy loner dentist of the same name who acts as a hitman with a knack for extracting pearly white teeth from his victims. On December 16th, Disney+ Hotstar has premiered a new Vicky Kaushal film in which he plays a good-for-nothing backup dancer who is regularly abused by his wife Gauri (Bhumi Pednekar). Govinda Naam Mera follows the comedic antics of said loser, who decides to murder his partner when she rejects his petition for divorce.

Those who prefer shorter, bite-sized TV series can check out Hotstar Specials. autumn, a Tamil language drama revolving around a suicide survivor who loses all her memories 24 hours before the event. The first three episodes were released for streaming on December 9th, with new ones coming every Friday. And then there’s Aashiqana Season 2which resumes its run from Monday to Sunday alongside the self-explanatory reality show Arrival at Malaikawhich airs exclusively on Disney+ Hotstar Mondays through Thursdays.
Disney also has some originals ready for us, starting with the new animated film Night at the museum: Kahmunrah gets up again, in which Nick Daley reluctantly follows in his father’s footsteps as the museum’s night watchman. However, as the sun goes down, an oversight causes the insane ruler Kahmunrah to escape, leaving a trail of destruction and chaos in his wake. the other is National Treasure: Edge of Historya continuation of the series Nicolas Cage-led Treasure Hunt Movies. While searching for a historical relic with the help of her friends, young DREAMer Jess uncovers a long-hidden secret about the death of her father, a known thief. Harvey Keitel reprises his role as FBI agent Peter Sadusky on the show, which begins on December 14th with a two-episode premiere followed by a weekly schedule.
Following the trend of rehashing the live-action film series with CGI animation, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules presents Greg with a new challenge – surviving the weekend with his aggressive older brother Rodrick while their parents are out of town. Similar to Original movie from 2011, this adaptation focuses on the underlying brotherly love and how the two polar opposites work together to mend their complicated relationship. The film is now streaming on the platform.
In addition, Disney+ Hotstar will broadcast a number of TV series from the past few months. The newest in this lineup would be pasture, in which Warwick Davis returns in the title role – 20 years after the original film – along with a diverse new crew as they embark on a perilous journey to the edge of the world. New episodes appear every Wednesday on Disney+ Hotstar. After that you could catch up The white lotus season 2, as fan-favorite, heartbroken Tanya McQuoid (Jennifer Coolidge) finds solace with a group of happy gay men in Sicily, Italy. New episodes of HBO Series appear every Monday, Episode 7 goes online on December 12th.

On December 26th, the English football league Premier League resumes its run after a mid-season break due to the year 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. The last club games were played almost a month ago. Premier League action returns on Boxing Day, December 26, just after the 2022 FIFA World Cup final on December 18.
That leaves us with some Korean dramas as Big Bet steals the show by casting famous actor Choi Min-sik (Oldboy) in the lead role of a crime drama. Set in the Philippines, the series tells the story of a legendary casino king who is now faced with the ultimate bet – his life – after being embroiled in a murder investigation. Big Bet launches on December 21st with the first three episodes, after which the remaining five will be released once each subsequent week.
Filmmaker Takashi Miike, best known for creating gory and hideous imagery – as in Audition (1999) and Visitor Q – is launching a new series adapted from a webtoon of the same name. In it, an immortal’s “normal life” is turned upside down when an organ donor kidnaps him and steals one of his eyes. However, a strange connection allows him to see through the missing eye that has now been transplanted into a serial killer’s skull. All six episodes of Connect are available to watch now on Disney+ Hotstar.
There are also some Japanese dramas making their way onto the platform. First up is Gannibal, a horror series that investigates a long-standing rumor about the cannibalistic mountain village of Kuge. The series will be released on December 14th. On the same day, My Family deals with a wealthy family who suffers their worst nightmare when their little daughter is kidnapped.
