The Flash, the full-length feature film that has been in the works at DC Studios for years, will be released on June 16, with the roughly three-minute official trailer available to watch now. In the film, which stars Ezra Miller as Barry Allen / The Flash, the actor plays two versions of the character as the original Barry Allen attempts to go back in time and ends up in a completely different timeline. Notably, the multiple timeline concept also calls for the appearance of different versions of Batman, with Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton reprising roles they previously played in Warner Bros. films.
Leading actor Ezra Miller launches the trailer from The Lightning in full uniform also featuring Bruce Wayne/Batman in two avatars, played by Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton. While Affleck has played Batman in several projects in the DC Universe more recently, Micheal Keaton is stepping into the role he most recently played in Tim Burton’s Batman And Batman returns. The film also sees Michael Shannon reprising his role as General Zod, who originally starred in man of Steel.
The trailer examines the general premise of The Flash, where Barry Allen’s attempts at time travel create a world devoid of metahumans just prior to General Zod’s invasion of Earth. He ends up teaming up with an alternate version of himself and also bonds with Michael Keaton’s Batman and Kara Zor-El / Supergirl (played by Sasha Calle), who starts out as a prisoner in the trailer but is eventually freed.
DC Studios Co-CEO James Gunn recently announced the new DC Universe series, which will feature The Flash as a “reset point” for the DC Universe. sequels for ShazamMatt Reeves’ The BatmanAnd Aquaman have also been announced, but they’re still some time away. The Flash will be among the studio’s first major releases for 2023.
